Alliance Defending Freedom Helps to Avert Genocide
Is it possible to prevent the practice of genocide across the world? The answer to this question may involve a great many variables. The creation of the Alliance Defending Freedom has come about at a crucial time in our nation’s history. This is the time during which the ugly possibility of persecution and genocide may be on the horizon.
There are many questions that need to be asked when it comes to understanding what genocide really amounts to. What is the definition of genocide? How can such a phenomenon be recognized in time to stop it? Where and when is it most likely to become a reality? And who is available on the ground to help people put a stop to it?
These are questions that the founders of the Alliance Defending Freedom have been called upon to answer. The Alliance was founded in 1994 a response to unsettling conditions that have gained prevalence in this country. Leaders of the Christian community banded together to give a voice to the opponents of persecution.
It true that a great many of the Alliance’s clients are those who class themselves as believing Christians. However, this is not the full extent of the activity that the Alliance is dedicated to. It should also be noted that the organization has stridently defended Muslims, Mormons, Jews, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and a fair number of atheists.
In 1998, ADF launched the Center for Faith and Cultural Engagement (CFCE). CFCE works with faith-based organizations, churches, and ministries to defend religious liberty while retaining their integrity and independence as ministries.
During the course of its existence, the Alliance Defending Freedom has also had occasion to speak up for the rights of students. These have been members of a great many different religious faiths.
Many of them also fall under the umbrella of several different political orientations. These may include positions as varied as pro-conservationists, classical and neo-conservatives, libertarians, pro-life advocates, and others. The Alliance Defending Freedom is dedicated to increased tolerance for these and others. See this article for additional information.
