Ben Roethlisberger is a talented athlete from Lima, Ohio. He excelled in baseball, basketball and football at Findlay High School. Not only did he set records by throwing for 54 touchdowns and 4,041 yards, Rothlisberger was also selected all-district and all-league in baseball and basketball.

As a 6-foot-9-inch quarterback with a powerful, accurate arm, Big Ben had scholarship offers from both the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Miami of Ohio Red Hawks. Ben Rothlisberger chose Miami of Ohio. He was their starting quarterback from 2001 through 2003. During the 38 games he played, Big Ben threw for 84 touchdowns and 10,829 yards. Both school records. He also set 21 school records in all and had his jersey retired.

An Outstanding Professional Career

In 2004, the Pittsburgh Steelers took Ben Roethlisberger with the 11th pick in the NFL draft. Big Ben had a great first year and he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. He went on to play for the Steelers for 18 years. During that time, he led them to the postseason 9 times, four AFC Championship wins, three Super Bowl appearances and two NFL Championships. He won his first Super Bowl at 23. He was the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl. Rothlisberger led the NFL in passing twice and was selected to six Pro Bowls. When Big Ben retired, he held single-game team records for passing yards, touchdown passes and completion percentage.

The Rothlisberger Family Foundation

To Big Ben, family is very important. Once retired, Rothlisberger founded the Rothlisberger Family Foundation. The foundation, which has a farm in Ohio, works to give families the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities and parent-child retreats.
