Shelton Haynes is president and CEO of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). On Roosevelt Island, a tiny island in the East River between Manhattan and Queens in New York City, a state-run organization manages and regulates every aspect of daily life.

Under Shelton Haynes’ leadership, RIOC has made significant strides in developing and enhancing the island’s infrastructure, amenities, and community services. He accepted the Rehabilitation Award from Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts for his efforts to protect and restore historic buildings on Roosevelt Island.

Haynes has also been actively promoting public safety on the island, working closely with the Roosevelt Island Public Safety Department to implement innovative programs and initiatives to keep residents and visitors safe.

Haynes announced the unveiling of a memorial on Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation to honor the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, and he also worked with Akeem Jamal to bring pickleball, a popular sport, to the island.
