Ballet Flats Footwear Shoes

Are Tieks Worth The Cost?

Are Tieks ballet flats worth the price? I guess it depends on who you ask. The shoes were introduced by designer Kfir Gavrieli in 2010. Since then, they have been all the rage. But at a price that can range anywhere between $165-$300, are they worth it?

Well, Mimi McFadden, CEO and founder of The Atlas Heart has a little bit to say on the issue. A few years back, she was working as a bartender in New Zealand and needed a comfortable pair of work shoes. But when she saw the shoes, she was taken aback by the price. Her first thought was hell to the maw, especially on a backpacker’s budget.

Finally, after four years, she decided to make the purchase. And according to McFadden, it was a good investment.

“To tell you the truth, I had never spent more than 30 bucks on a pair of flats. So, for the Tieks, paying $200 to Kfir Gavrieli was a huge leap.”

But once McFadden tried the shoes, the first thing she noticed was that they were a wee bit tight. This is because she decided to order down because she wore a half size. However, after a few days, she says they felt better, and she was finally able to break them in.

After breaking them in, she admits Tieks became the flats of choice. She has many pros about the shoes including comfort, they can fold, you can get them in Italian leather, and they come in a variety of colors and materials. The cons include they come in one shape and if you have foot problems, they aren’t the best choice because the shoes lack support.

But beyond that, McFadden says she still has her original pair and has purchased 2 more. her verdict: Tieks are worth it.
