Kelcy Warren; CEO
Kelcy Warren, CEO of Energy Transfer Partners, is a controversial figure in the pipeline industry.
For thirty years, Kelcy Warren has been responsible for building America’s natural gas infrastructure and developing some of the most prolific shale plays in the country. He is also a passionate outdoorsman and accomplished archer who has taken home numerous deer during his lifetime hunting trips.
Kelcy Warren was born in Oklahoma. His grandfather, the son of a homesteader and cattle rancher, moved his family to Oklahoma from Texas and established the Warren Brothers Cattle Company in the late 19th century.
Mr. Warren has been involved with oil and gas since childhood, and he started working for his father’s construction business in high school. He learned every aspect of building pipelines and gathering systems, from surveying to pressure testing to welding. In 1977, he joined his father’s company, Win Warren Construction CO., taking over as CEO when his father retired in 1985.
Mr. Warren is a fifth-generation Oklahoman and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he was inducted into the inaugural class of the University’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2011. He and his wife, Sherry, have two sons and three granddaughters and one grandson.
Kelcy Warren has been involved in building pipelines since 1977 when he joined his father’s construction company. He has worked on oil and gas infrastructure projects all over the world. His expertise spans from oil field production to pipeline systems to major refining systems, including refineries that process heavy crude oil or bitumen (oil sands).
Mr. Warren is the CEO of Energy Transfer Partners, one of the top 10 largest energy infrastructure companies in the world.
Since acquiring EnCana Corporation in 2004, Kelcy has led a massive resurgence of pipeline infrastructure construction and development. The company has constructed over 2,800 miles of pipeline in multiple states since 2003.
Warren has been recognized for his professional accomplishments and community involvement. He was named Ernst & Young’s 2009 Model Small to Medium Company Entrepreneur for Oklahoma for his record-setting achievements with EnCana and ETP. See related link for additional information.
