Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island is located between the west Manhattan Island and East of Queen’s Long Island borough. The Island is a unique geographic and historic location in New York City. The Island, renamed in honor of former US president Franklin Roosevelt is home to a sizeable population, including employees, business people and visitors. Recently, Roosevelt Island served as a Covid-19 testing center. RIOC’s CEO noted that management was keen on an innovative solution for the Island’s community.

Roosevelt Island has business parks, cafeterias, sports facilities and cultural institutions. For instance, the Blackwell House, the oldest building on Roosevelt Island, will serve as a museum to preserve important artifacts, records and archives. Another unique landmark on the Island is the Lighthouse Tower. The tower was designed by James Renwick and constructed in 1872. It preserves the masonry structure and serves as a safe outdoor place for recreation.
