Aida Morales

Aida Morales the CEO of RIOC.

Aida Morales is the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), overseeing all daily operations of the island’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and buildings.

She was promoted to her current position in 2019 after she spearheaded efforts on behalf of RIOC to secure $350 million in funding from the New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) for infrastructure improvements on the Island of Roosevelt.

Roosevelt Island is a slender island in New York City’s East River. It is a fascinating place to visit–and live. Aida works hard every day to ensure everyone who visits or lives there enjoys their experience as much as possible.

It is connected to the rest of Manhattan by the Roosevelt Island Bridge, which opened in 1973 and was designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava.

The only stop for the New York City Subway system that does not connect to any other line is here, on this island–the only way off it is via car or foot.

She also serves as the VP/COO and has been with the company since 1982. Aida began her career at RIOC as a project manager for one of its first significant developments:

The Grove Condominiums on East 60th Street in Manhattan. In 1987 she was promoted to Director of Construction Services, where she oversaw all construction projects undertaken by RIOC until she was appointed Vice President & Chief Operating Officer in 1992;

She assumed her current position as President & Chief Executive Officer in 2006 after serving briefly as acting president following former CEO David Jargowsky’s departure from the organization earlier that year.

Aida Morales is a trailblazer in the real estate industry and has made her mark at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. As the first Latina to lead an NYC development project, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone in New York City can afford safe and affordable housing.

She had advocated for immigrants and refugees since before Donald Trump became president.
