Robert Kraft
Robert Kraft is an American businessman and owner of the New England Patriots. We wanted to take time and showcase a little about him.
He is worth $4 billion, lives in Brookline MA, is the youngest son of Kraft Foods founder James Kraft, and has a net worth of $4 billion.
Robert Kraft was born in 1941 in Brooklyn NY.In 1999 he took ownership of the Patriots as well as Foxboro Stadium from James Busch Orthwein for $172 million dollars after Mr Orthwein expressed intentions to relocate the team to St. Louis Missouri – which is where his company was based at that time.
Robert Kraft is married to Myra Kraft, who is a member of the board at the Kraft Group, and co-owner of the Kraft family Winery. He has 2 children: James and Jennifer.
Robert Kraft is a well-known philanthropist, who has given over $130 million dollars in donations to charities. He was named one of the most powerful men in sports by Sports Illustrated in 2011, as he played a large role in his team being voted into the Super Bowl XLII. He bought the Patriots with others for $172 million dollars before they had ever won a Super Bowl (which they recently did in 2002) – which took them into football’s “big time”. Before he bought the team, they had never gotten past the first round of the playoffs and have reached at least the AFC Championship game 7 times in their 13 seasons. He has won two Super Bowls and has only been to one finals, as a franchise (1984).
His first Super Bowl victory was in 2002 against his hometown team, the St. Louis Rams on January 22nd of that year. Prior to this win he had been to 3 conference championships and another NFC playoff game. Robert Kraft is a part owner of the Boston Red Sox, since 2002. He paid $700,000 thousand dollars for his stake in the team.
